EVANSVILLE, Ind. – University of Southern Indiana junior
Tara Wiley (Oxford, Indiana) was named the recipient of the NCAA Division II "Kim Moore Spirit Award" at the National Golf Coaches Association Awards Banquet Tuesday evening in Houston, Texas. The recipient is selected by a vote of the NGCA membership.
Wiley received the NCAA Division II East Regional award as a freshman in 2006.
This spirit award is dedicated to Kim Moore, who played golf for the University of Indianapolis (1999-2003). Moore was an inspiration to all as she persevered through many physical challenges while playing collegiate golf. Her positive outlook and dedication toward the game was only out done by her sense of humor and passion for the game.
A two-time All-GLVC performer, Wiley has persevered after becoming legally blind in her left eye in a fishing accident. This season she was second on the team with an 80.2 strokes per round average (spra), winning the Ray Wright/Screaming Eagles Classic during the fall half of the season.
During her three years at USI, Wiley has an 80.3 spra with one tournament championship, seven top five finishes, and 10 appearances in the top 10.
