USI to host annual Ray Wright/Screaming Eagles Classic,
Fifteen-team tournament begins Sunday at Cambridge
EVANSVILLE, Ind.—For the fourth straight year, the No. 24-ranked University of Southern Indiana women's golf team will host the Ray Wright/Screaming Eagles' Golf Classic at the Cambridge Golf Course, located south of the Hwy. 41 and I-64 intersection.
The 13th annual tournament will be played Sunday and Monday and features 15 teams, including eight GLVC teams as well as Division I Western Kentucky University and Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.
Joining USI from the GLVC is Drury University, the University of Indianapolis, Quincy University, Northern Kentucky University, the University of Missouri-St. Louis, Bellarmine University, and Lewis University.
Other teams competing include Rend Lake College, John A. Logan College, Brescia University, Lindenwood University, and NCAA II Midwest Region foe The University of Findlay.
USI, which is coming off a seventh-place finish at the Drury Fall Shootout, is looking to defend its Screaming Eagles Classic crown. Senior Tara Wiley (Oxford, Indiana) broke the single-round tournament record (for Cambridge Golf Course) with her even-par 72 in the final round last year to win the individual title with a two-round score of 149.
As a team, the Eagles shot 319 and 314 to edge Indianapolis by three strokes.
The tournament begins Sunday at 9:15 a.m. from the number one tee; with USI teeing off around 10 a.m. Monday's closing round will be a shotgun start beginning at 9 a.m.
