Eagles finish seventh in spring opener

NORTH DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.—The University of Southern Indiana women's golf shot a closing round 342 Sunday to open its spring schedule with a seventh-place finish at the 13-team Embry-Riddle University Eagle Invitational.

Behind a solid first-round effort from senior
Tara Wiley (Oxford, Indiana), the Screaming Eagles opened the tournament in fourth place after shooting a 328 Saturday. Wiley shot a team-best 76 in the opening round before shooting 87 Sunday to close with a team-best 163 and in a tie for 18th.

Jessica Dooley (Goshen, Indiana) shot 82 and 83 to finish in a tie for 21st, while freshman
Kristina Mitchell (Indianapolis, Indiana) shot 84 and 86 to finish 30th.
Boston College won the tournament after shooting 319 Saturday and 312 Sunday, while Lee University's Julie Donnestad was the medalist after shooting a two-over-par 146 (75-71).
USI returns to action March 27-29 when it competes at the Northern Kentucky University Spring Invitational in Perry Park, Kentucky.
