USI Women's 2001 Fall Golf: A New Era
The University of Southern Indiana womenís golf not only begins a new year in September, but a new era in the history of the program.
For the first time in four seasons, the Screaming Eagles will not be lead onto the golf course by their All-GLVC performers, Lindsey McGrath and Laura Compton. Between them, they combined for six All-Great Lakes Valley Conference honors and led the Eagles to two second place finishes the last two seasons.
USI Head Coach Don Bisesi will have some rebuilding to do, leading four sophomores and six freshmen into action this season.
Of the four returning players, sophomore Brandi Irvin (Benton, Illinois) leads the returning players. Irvin played in nine of USIís 10 tournaments (14 rounds) as a freshman with a 96.3 average. She also led the Eagles in the Bellarmine Invitational during the spring season.
Irvin is followed by sophomore Jennifer Beaman (Evansville, Indiana). Beaman saw her playing time increase during the spring season, playing in five tournaments (eight rounds) as a freshman finishing her first season with a 103.3 average.
Also returning for this year is sophomores Laura Nichols (Avon, Indiana) and Laura Lingner (Brownsburg, Indiana). Lingner saw action in only one tournament last season, playing in the Bellarmine Invitational.
Bisesi stayed within Indiana this year for his six new players, adding freshmen Becky Goebel (Evansville, Indiana) from Mater Dei High School Megan Hester (Lebanon, Indiana) from Lebanon High School Lindsay Lamborn (Evansville, Indiana) from Harrison High School Amber Sells (Crawfordsville, Indiana) from North Montgomery Kim Walker (Evansville, Indiana) from Memorial High School and Lindsay West (Evansville, Indiana) from Central High School.
