USI soccer splits a doubleheader
Women’s Game:

University of Southern Indiana (3-9-0, 1-5-0 GLVC): 2
The University of Southern Indiana women’s soccer team dropped a road match to Quincy University Friday night in Quincy, Illinois, 3-2. USI falls to 3-9-0 overall, 1-5-0 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, while Quincy moves 2-6-1, 1-3-1 GLVC.
USI had goals from junior midfielder Megan Fitzler (Maryland Heights, Missouri) and senior forward Kristen Light (St. Louis, Missouri). The goals were the fourth of the year for each player, tying them for the team lead.
The next action for the Screaming Eagles will be Sunday, October 7, at noon when the University of Missouri-St. Louis comes to Strassweg Field. USI has five matches to play in the 2001 regular season.

The University of Southern Indiana men’s soccer team won its first Great Lakes Valley Conference match in overtime at Quincy University, 4-3, Friday night. USI takes its record to 5-6-0 overall, 1-5-0 in the league, while QU falls to 4-5-1 overall, 1-4-0 GLVC.
The Screaming Eagles got their first two goals of the year from junior midfielder Duncan Bray (Scotland) along with single tallies from sophomore midfielder Jared Anslinger (Evansville, Indiana) and senior forward Tom Peroutka (St. Louis, Missouri). The goals were the second of the season for Anslinger and the first of the year for Peroutka.
The Eagles will try to stay on track Sunday, October 7, when they host the University of Missouri-St. Louis in a 2:30 p.m. match at Strassweg Field. The Eagles have four home matches left this season, including three conference matches and a non-conference game with Truman State University.
