USI women’s soccer signs six

The University of Southern Indiana women’s soccer team announced the signing letters of intent or transfer of seven players for the 2002 season.

Transferring to USI are sophomore midfielder Courtney Reeder (Carbondale, Illinois) and sophomore back Lisa Stucki (Evansville, Indiana). Reeder comes to USI after a year at Troy State University in Alabama where she played in 19 games, scoring 28 points on 11 goals and six assists. Stucki played in seven contests for Samford University, tallying a point on an assist.

Stucki played her high school soccer at Evansville’s Central High School where she was an All-State, All-City, All-District, and All-SIAC performer.

Signing letters of intent from the Evansville area are forward Alisann Shetler from Mater Dei High School forward Brooklyn Gant and midfielder Cejae Holmes from Central High School and midfielder Alison Beal from Gibson Southern High School.

Shetler was All-City and All-District as a senior at Mater Dei High School last season. She notched 17 goals and 14 assists as a senior.

Gant is a senior at Central High School where she has lettered in soccer, basketball, and track. During her four seasons at CHS, Gant was a three-time Most Valuable Offensive performer first team All-District and second team All-SIAC.

Holmes also is a senior at Central High School, lettering only in soccer. A three-year starter for the Bears, she was second team All-City as a junior and had 19 goals and 25 assists as a senior. Holmes also has participated in Olympic Development state teams in 1995 and 1996 and the regional team in 1995.

Beal, a native of Ft. Branch, Indiana, was ISCA All-District and NSCAA/Adidas Scholar Athlete All-Region as a senior and was All-County all four seasons at GSHS. The ISCA Academic All-State performer finished her career as GSHS’s all-time leading scorer and four-time Most Valuable Player.

Also signing out of high school is Sherry Johnson, a senior at Carmel High School in Carmel, Indiana. Johnson, who joins her sister Jennifer on the USI squad for 2002, participated in soccer and track at CHS.
