USI women’s soccer goes on hunt for tournament berth
The University of Southern Indiana women’s soccer team goes on the road this week in search of securing a spot in the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament. USI is 6-7-0 overall, but is 1-5-0 in the GLVC.
The Screaming Eagles enter their final road trip of the regular season tied for eighth in the GLVC and looking to break a three-game losing streak in the league. Of the teams below USI in the standings the Eagles have the tie-breaker with Kentucky Wesleyan College and still have to play Lewis University and the University of Indianapolis.
The Eagles will get the chance against Lewis, Friday, October 18, in Romeoville, Illinois, and finish the road trip Sunday, October 20, by visiting Kenosha, Wisconsin, and the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. Lewis is winless in 2002 at 0-10-0 overall and 0-6-0 GLVC, while Wisconsin-Parkside is 7-1-1 overall and 4-1-1 GLVC.
USI is unbeaten against Lewis in the last four matches, going 3-0-1. The Eagles, who lead the series, 3-2-1, won last season's match-up with Lewis, 1-0, at Strassweg Field. Wisconsin-Parkside snapped USI's string of four straight wins with a 2-0 victory at Strassweg Field last fall. Despite the loss, the Eagles lead series with Wisconsin-Parkside, 6-2-0.
