Sandefur named women’s soccer assistant coach at USI
The University of Southern Indiana women’s soccer team announced the hiring of Ashley Sandefur (Evansville, Indiana) as an assistant coach. Sandefur will join Krissy Meek in her first season at the helm of the Screaming Eagles.
Sandefur, who will graduate from the University of Evansville in December with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education, comes to USI after a four-year collegiate career in the Aces’ women’s soccer program. During her soccer career, Sandefur recorded 30 points on 10 goals and 10 assists and was named second team All-Missouri Valley Conference.
The native of Evansville and graduate of Central High School also was named to the MVC Scholar Athlete team.
During her prep career at Central High School, she was named first team All-State, All-District, All-SIAC, and All-City as a senior. Sandefur helped lead CHS to a 53-15-8 record and two sectional titles over four year.
“Ashley has accumulated a wealth of knowledge and experience during her four years as a collegiate player,” said Meek. “That knowledge and experience, combined with her enthusiasm and passion for the game, will help to reestablish USI as one of the top programs in the GLVC.”
