USI women’s soccer breaks winless streak

The University of Southern Indiana women’s soccer broke its five-match winless streak with a 3-0 victory over Kentucky Wesleyan College Sunday afternoon in Owensboro, Kentucky. USI goes to 5-7-1 overall and 2-5-0 in the GLVC, while KWC falls to 2-8-0 overall and 0-7-0 in the league.
The Screaming Eagles took a 1-0 lead into half time after a goal by sophomore midfielder Brooklyn Wilke (Evansville, Indiana) scored her fourth goal of the year. She was assisted on the play by junior back Lisa Stucki (Evansville, Indiana).
In the second half, the Eagles sealed the victory with goals by senior forward Aisha Earle-Smith (Spring, Texas) and freshman midfielder Kara Marcum (Evansville, Indiana). Earle-Smith gave USI a 2-0 lead with her team-leading seventh goal of the year, while Marcum capped off the USI scoring with her second of the season.
USI will continue its three-match road swing Friday, October 17, when it travels to Southern Illinois University Edwardsville for a 5 p.m. match. The Eagles will conclude the final road trip of the regular season at Quincy University Sunday, October 19.
