USI women’s soccer playing for a spot in the GLVC Tournament
The University of Southern Indiana women’s soccer team will be playing for a spot in the GLVC Tournament when it goes on the road this weekend. The Screaming Eagles, 5-7-1 overall and 2-5-0 in the GLVC, will play at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville Friday, October 17, at 5 p.m. and Quincy University Sunday, October 19, at noon.
USI starts the week in the eighth and final tournament spot, one game ahead of SIUE, which is 7-5-0 overall and 1-5-0 in the GLVC and two games behind Quincy, which is 5-5-3 overall and 2-3-2 in the league.
The Eagles are coming off a 1-0-1 weekend, tying West Virginia Wesleyan College, 2-2, at Strassweg Field and defeating Kentucky Wesleyan College, 3-0, in Owensboro, Kentucky.
Senior forward Aisha Earle-Smith’s (Spring, Texas) 16 points on seven goals and two assists lead four Eagles in double-digit points. Sophomore forward Alisann Shetler (Evansville, Indiana) is close behind with 14 points on six goals and two assists.
USI freshman forward Kara Marcum (Evansville, Indiana) leads USI and is second in the GLVC with six assists.
SIUE leads the all-time series with USI 7-1-1, while the Eagles have the advantage over Quincy, 4-2-1.
