USI women’s soccer starts year with a pair of exhibition games
The University of Southern Indiana women’s soccer team will kick-off the 2004 season with a pair of exhibition games. The Screaming Eagles will visit the University of Evansville August 17 and will host Murray State University August 20. Match time is 7 p.m. each evening.
Following a weekend-long road trip to open the season, the Eagles open the 2004 home schedule with a two-match homestand, beginning with Wheeling Jesuit University September 5 for a 2 p.m. match. USI concludes the homestand against Tiffin University September 7 at 4 p.m.
USI men’s and women’s soccer teams open the GLVC schedule at home when they host Quincy University for a GLVC doubleheader September 17. The women’s team plays the nightcap of the conference doubleheaders this season.
The Eagles enter 2004 hoping to continue the momentum they built at the end of last year when they were 2-2-1 in the final five games. USI, which lost only one player from last season’s team, was 6-9-1 overall and 3-7-0 in the GLVC and returns 13 players for 2004.
USI is in the middle of three-a-day practices, 7:30 a.m., 11:15 a.m., and 4 p.m. Due to the variety of practice sites, the media is asked to please call before coming out to practices for interviews. The Eagles will be rotating practice sessions among four sites – the rugby field on Clark Lane the practice field next to the USI Tennis Courts the practice field on the USI Intramural Complex on Broadway Avenue and Strassweg Field.
*Media Note: Due to NCAA regulations concerning exhibitions/ scrimmages in Division II soccer, no score or statistics will be kept and/or released after the matches. The coaches and the players will be available for comment after each game.
