USI women’s soccer hosts WJU to open the 2004 home schedule
The University of Southern Indiana women’s soccer team opens the 2004 home schedule when Wheeling Jesuit University visits Strassweg Field Sunday afternoon for a 2 p.m. match.
The Screaming Eagles will be looking to put a mark in the win column after going 0-2-0 in the Grand Valley State University Tournament last weekend. The Eagles dropped their season opener, 2-1, to Ferris State University and lost to No. 10 GVSU, 4-0.
Wheeling Jesuit started its 2004 campaign with a 2-1 victory over LeMoyne University and will play Gannon University Wednesday evening prior to playing USI Sunday. The Cardinals were 11-9-1 last season.
USI evened the all-time series with Wheeling Jesuit, 1-1, with a 3-2 victory in Wheeling, West Virginia, last fall. The Eagles overcame a 2-0 deficit and a 45 minute delay for lightning to earn the victory.
Following the USI-Wheeling Jesuit match-up, the Eagles will conclude their short two-game homestand by hosting Tiffin University September 7 at 4 p.m. The Dragons open their 2004 campaign against Notre Dame College (South Euclid, Ohio) Tuesday evening and will play Daemen College Saturday prior to coming to Evansville to play the Eagles.
USI leads the all-time series with Tiffin, 1-0-0, after a 3-0 road victory in its inaugural season in 1996.
