Eagles do not advance to GLVC Tournament

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – For a second straight year, a berth in the GLVC Tournament for the University of Southern Indiana women’s soccer team was blocked by the University of Missouri-St. Louis. This year, UMSL defeated USI 4-2 Saturday afternoon in St. Louis, Missouri.
USI falls to 5-12-0 overall and 3-7-0 GLVC, while UMSL goes to 9-8-1 overall, 4-5-1 GLVC.
UMSL scored 3:42 into the match and took the 1-0 lead into halftime. USI’s junior forward Alisann Shetler (Evansville, Indiana) tied the score 1-1 after the intermission off a pass from freshman forward Casey Alexander (Evansville, Indiana) at 46:55. The goal was Shetler’s fourth of the year.
The Riverwomen responded with three unanswered goals to take a 4-1 lead. Eagles’ freshman forward Julie Collins (Merrillville, Indiana) cut the UMSL lead to 4-2 at the 82:58 mark off of a pass from Shetler. The goal also was Collins’ fourth of the season.
USI will finish the 2004 campaign at Oakland City University Tuesday at 3 p.m.
