The Ashland womenís squad comes to the Evansville after starting the fall schedule with a split on the road. The Ashland Eagles lost to Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, but bounced back to defeat the University of Missouri-St. Louis, 2-1.

USI is tied with Ashland, 1-1, in the all-time series. Ashland won the last meeting, 1-0 in triple overtime, in the NCAA Division II Quarterfinals at Strassweg Field.

The USI menís team also started the 2005 campaign with a 1-1 road record. The Eagles began the season with a 4-0 set back at Truman State University, but rebounded to shut out Harris Stowe State College, 5-0, in St. Louis, Missouri.

Senior midfielder Jeff Slaga (Kokomo, Indiana) led the Eagles with a pair of goals in the win. Slaga was joined in the scoring column by sophomore midfielder Evan Stoll (Washington, Indiana), who got the game winner junior back Brian Shepherd (St. Louis, Missouri), who scored his first collegiate goal and freshman midfielder Tyree Robinson (Jefferson City, Missouri), who also posted his first collegiate goal.

Ashland started the fall with a pair of losses. They fell at SIUE, 1-0, and at the University of Missouri-Rolla, 3-1.

The Ashland Eagles lead the all-time series with USI, 3-1-0, and won last yearís meeting, 2-1, in Ohio.

The menís team will conclude the homestand by hosting Campbellsville University September 5. Campbellsville, which was 3-12-2 overall in 2004, started the year with a 3-2 loss to Freed-Hardeman University. The Tigers, who will be playing the Eagles for the first time, will play three road games before coming to Strassweg Field on Monday.
