Eagles tie Tiffin in double overtime

TIFFIN, Ohio – The University of Southern Indiana women's soccer team could not hold onto a 3-0 first half lead and had to settle for a 3-3 double overtime tie at Tiffin University Saturday afternoon. USI's record goes to
7-5-1 overall, while Tiffin is 9-2-1.
USI built its 3-0 lead mid-way through the first half, starting with a goal senior midfielder Alisann Shetler (Evansville, Indiana). Shetler scored her fourth of the season off a pass from junior midfielder Rebecca Cripe (Argos, Indiana).
Eagles sophomore midfielder Jesscia Stawick
(Indianapolis, Indiana) increased the USI lead to 2-0 on a goal with 15 minutes to play before intermission. She was assisted on her second goal of the year by sophomore forward Julie Collins
(Merrillville, Indiana) and Shetler.
The Eagles finished their first half scoring when sophomore back Mallory Minor
(Evansville, Indiana) scored her first collegiate goal to make the margin 3-0. Freshman back Jessica Snyder
(Noblesville, Indiana) picked up her first collegiate assist on the goal.
The Dragons responded with three straight goals in the second half to send the match in to overtime. Neither team was able to capitalize during the two 10-minute "sudden victory" overtimes before the game concluded.
USI will try to get back on the winning track Sunday at the University of Findlay. The women's game, which starts at 1:30 p.m. (CDT), will be the second game of a soccer doubleheader. The USI men's team will Findlay in the opening match, beginning at 11 a.m. (CDT).
