USI women's soccer looking for first win
EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana women's soccer team begins the 2006 GLVC schedule in search of it first win of the season.
USI (0-2-0, 0-0-0 GLVC) opened the year with a 3-2 loss to Ferris State University on a neutral site and an 8-0 loss at Grand Valley State University. Junior midfielders Jessica Stawick (Indianapolis, Indiana) and Katie Grossman (Evansville, Indiana) had one goal each in the loss to Ferris State.
The Screaming Eagles, who are picked to finish sixth in the GLVC this season, travel to Lewis University Friday and the University of Wisconsin-Parkside Sunday. Both matches begin at 2:30 p.m.
Lewis (1-2-0, 0-0-0 GLVC) has already played three matches this season, losing the first two on the road and bouncing back to with the third at home. The Flyers got into the win column with a 3-1 victory over St. Francis University Tuesday.
USI defeated Lewis, 2-1, last season at Strassweg Field with Grossman scoring the game winner at the 56:31 mark. The Eagles lead the overall series, 6-3-1.
Wisconsin-Parkside stared the year with a split, losing at Northern Michigan University, 1-0, and winning at Northwood University, 3-2. Wisconsin-Parkside hosts Kentucky Wesleyan College Friday before playing USI.
The Eagles defeated the Rangers, 3-2, last season at Strassweg Field and lead the series, 7-5-0.
