USI goes outside the GLVC this week
EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana women's soccer team hopes to get back on track with a pair non-conference matches this weekend at Strassweg Field. USI starts the second half of the homestand by hosting McKendree College at 7:30 p.m. Friday and the University of Findlay at 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
The Screaming Eagles (1-5-0) are trying to get back on track, having lost three straight since posting their first win of the year. USI lost a pair heartbreakers last weekend, falling in overtime to Drury University, 1-0, and in regulation to Rockhurst University, 2-1.
McKendree's (3-1-0) visit to Strassweg Field will be its second road match of the year after winning three of four at home to start the year. The Bearcats play their first road match of 2006 Wednesday at Saint Xavier University in Chicago.
USI is 3-3-0 all-time against McKendree, but the Bearcats have won the last three meetings. McKendree won the last meeting in 2004, 2-1, in Lebanon, Illinois.
The University of Findlay (1-5-0) is off to a start similar to USI, losing five of six matches. Findlay has scored just two goals in the six matches and has lost their last two after posting a road win over Saint Joseph's College.
The Eagles lead the series with the Oilers, 1-0-1, tying 2-2 at Findlay last season and winning, 1-0, at Strassweg Field in 2004.
