Collins and Conquest lead USI to second straight win

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – University of Southern Indiana junior forward Julie Collins (Merrillville, Indiana) and freshman forward Alison Conquest (Crown Point, Indiana) combined for three goals as the Screaming Eagles defeated the University of Findlay, 3-1, Sunday afternoon at Strassweg Field. USI, which has won two in a row for the first time this season, raised its record to 3-5-0 overall, while Findlay falls to 1-5-0.
Collins scored USI's first goal of the game just 8:14 into the match off a pass from freshman midfielder Shauni Boudia
(Noblesville, Indiana). The goal was Collins' second of the season after getting the game winner Friday against McKendree College. The assist was Boudia's first point as a collegiate player.
With a little help from Collins, Conquest sealed the victory for the Eagles with a pair of second half goals.
Conquest scored her first goal of the game and as a collegiate on a break-away after being feed the ball by Collins to make the score 2-0 at 47:22. She sealed the win by putting away the rebound of a shot by Collins to make the score 3-1 at 53:42.
Findlay's junior defender Christina Smith cut USI's lead in half, 2-1, with a goal at 49:54 for the Oiler's only tally.
Between the posts, junior goalkeeper Meagan Homolla
(Portage, Indiana) posted her third victory of the year. She faced eight shots, allowing one, and making four saves.
USI hits the road next week in the GLVC, traveling to Saint Joseph's College on Friday and the University of Indianapolis on Sunday. The Eagles return to the friendly surroundings of Strassweg Field September 29 to host Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.
