USI stumbles on corner

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana women's soccer team could not stop a Northern Kentucky University corner kick from scoring to lose, 1-0, Friday evening at the Strassweg Field. USI falls to 4-12-0 overall and 2-10-0, while NKU goes 11-4-0, 8-4-0 GLVC.
NKU midfielder Jeanna Goettelman looped a corner kick into the goal at the 52:28 mark of the second half for the game-winner. The goal was unassisted.
The Screaming Eagles were the more dangerous team offensively during the match, out shooting the Norse 15-11. The Eagles also had the advantage in corner kicks, 7-5.
USI pounded the NKU goal, but goalkeeper Kelly Bare made six saves to stop the Eagles.
The USI season finale is 2:30 p.m. Sunday when the Eagles host Bellarmine University at Strassweg Field. The three seniors – Megan Williams (Mt. Vernon, Indiana), Rebecca Cripe (Argos, Indiana), and Kara Marcum (Evansville, Indiana) – will be honored prior to the game.
Bellarmine raised its record to 11-4-0, 9-3-0 GLVC, after defeating Kentucky Wesleyan College, 3-1, Friday afternoon.
