USI continues to struggle on the road

QUINCY, Ill.. – The University of Southern Indiana women's soccer team continued to have its problems on the road, dropping a 1-0 decision to Quincy University Friday evening in Quincy, Illinois. The Screaming Eagles fall to 0-3-0 overall and start GLVC action 0-1-0, while the Lady Hawks go to 4-1-0, 1-0-0 GLVC.
After a scoreless first half, Quincy sophomore midfielder Becky Fleming gave the Lady Hawks the margin of victory with a goal at the 55:01 mark. Fleming scored her unassisted goal off a rebound of a penalty kick.
A close match throughout, the Eagles out shot the Hawks, 12-11, and had an advantage in shots-on-goal, 5-4. Quincy had the advantage in corner kicks, 7-3.
The Eagles have one more match on the road Sunday at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville before returning to the friendly surroundings of the Strassweg Field. Match time Sunday in Edwardsville, Illinois, is noon.
USI opens the home half of the schedule September 14 when it hosts Saint Joseph's College for a night match at Strassweg Field. The USI-SJC match-up will start a five-game homestand for the Eagles.
