USI women's soccer ends homestand with victory

EVANSVILLE, Ind. — The University of Southern Indiana women's soccer team finished the five-game homestand with three wins after posting a 2-1 victory over Tiffin University Sunday afternoon at Strassweg Field. USI raises its record to 3-5-1 overall, while Tiffin falls to 6-5-0.
Overall, the Screaming Eagles were 3-1-1 during the homestand after starting the year 0-4-0 on the road.
The Eagles drew first blood in the match when they scored 12:33 into the match. USI junior midfielder Jessica Snyder
(Noblesville, Indiana) gave the Eagles a 1-0 lead off a pass from sophomore midfielder Shauni Boudia
(Noblesville, Indiana). The goal was Snyder's second of the year.
The Dragons would respond shortly before halftime, tying the score 1-1 at the 37:51 mark.
USI would get the game-winning goal in the second half when Boudia ricocheted a crossing shot into the goal to give the Eagles a 2-1 lead. The unassisted goal at 53:05 was Boudia's team-best third of the season.
A tight match, USI out shot Tiffin, 15-14, and had a slim advantage in corner kicks, 2-1. Each team had 10 shots-on-goal.
USI goes on the road for three straight matches next week. The Eagles start the road swing at Drury University on September 28 for a 5 p.m. The remainder of the trip includes a noon match on September 30 at Rockhurst University and concludes with a 5 p.m. match at Kentucky Wesleyan College.
