USI posts first win of the season
Eagles shutout Urbana, 4-0

-- The University of Southern Indiana women's soccer team posted its first win of the 2008 campaign with a 4-0 shutout of Urbana University Friday evening at Strassweg Field. USI raises its record 1-2-0 overall, while Urbana falls to 0-3-0.
USI freshman forward Meagan Kempf
(Evansville, Indiana) scored the Screaming Eagles first goal of the season off the rebound of a shot by junior forward Katie Teagarden
(Speedway, Indiana) at 3:09 of the first half for the 1-0 lead. The goal was Kempf's first as a collegiate.
After taking the 1-0 lead into the intermission, the Eagles exploded for three goals in the second half. USI freshman forward Lavonia Lewis
(Evansville, Indiana) extended the Eagles lead to 2-0 with her first collegiate goal off a pass from junior midfielder Kara Georgeff
(Highland, Indiana) at 52:13.
USI sealed the win with a pair of goals by freshman forward Nancy Newcomer
(Parma Heights, Ohio). Newcomer scored her first collegiate goal with at 57:38 on a pass from Kempf. She followed 36 seconds later at 58:14 with her second goal of the match off a pass from Teagarden.
Between the posts, freshman goalkeeper Stephanie Bodamer
(Highland, Indiana) and sophomore goalkeeper Ashleigh Lemp
(Osceola, Indiana) combined to record USI first shutout of the year. Bodamer made six saves in 69 minutes, while Lemp earned a save in 20 minutes of action.
The Eagles conclude the two-match homestand Sunday at 4 p.m. when they host Oakland City University.
