USI breaks losing streak with first road win

-- The University of Southern Indiana women's soccer team broke a four-match losing streak with a 1-0 victory over the University of North Alabama Friday evening in Florence, Alabama. USI raises its record to 3-6-0 overall, while UNA falls to 5-5-0.
The victory also was USI's first road win of the 2008 campaign.
The Screaming Eagles got the game-winning goal off the foot of freshman forward Meagan Kempf
(Evansville, Indiana) 28:29 into the first half. USI junior midfielder Kara Georgeff
(Highland, Indiana) flicked a corner kick from junior midfielder Shauni Boudia
(Noblesville, Indiana) to Kempf for the game-winner.
The goal was Kempf's team-best fifth of the season.
Between the posts, freshman goalkeeper Stephanie Bodamer
(Highland, Indiana) stood tall for the Eagles. Bodamer made six saves in posting her second shutout of the season.
USI returns to GLVC action and the friendly surroundings of Strassweg Field Sunday when Kentucky Wesleyan College visits for a 2:30 p.m. match. The Panthers saw their record fall to 3-5-1 overall and 0-4-1 in the GLVC with a 2-1 loss at the University of Missouri-St. Louis Friday night.
