-- The University of Southern Indiana women's soccer team posted its first GLVC win of the year with a 3-1 victory over Kentucky Wesleyan College Sunday afternoon at Strassweg Field. USI raises its record to 4-6-0 overall and 1-4-0 GLVC, while KWC falls to 3-6-1, 0-5-1 GLVC.
The win also marked the second time this season that the Screaming Eagles have been able to put back-to-back wins together.
The Eagles scored all three goals in the opening half with the first being scored by junior midfielder Shauni Boudia
(Noblesville, Indiana) at 11:23. Boudia scored off a pass by junior midfielder Katie Teagarden
(Speedway, Indiana) for her second goal of the year and gave USI a 1-0 lead.
USI upped the score to 2-0 at 17:50 when freshman forward Meagan Kempf
(Evansville, Indiana) scored off freshman forward Lavonia Lewis'
(Evansville, Indiana) blocked shot. The goal was Kempf's team-best sixth of the season.
Lewis was credited with an assist on the play, her first as a collegiate.
The Eagles pushed the lead to 3-0 at 38:12 when freshman forward Nancy Newcomer
scored from beyond the right side of the box on a pass from sophomore defender Jenna Keusch
(Jasper, Indiana). The goal was Newcomers fourth of the season, while Keusch got the assist for her first collegiate point.
KWC posted its only tally shortly before halftime when junior midfielder Kristen Chinn scored an unassisted goal to make the score 3-1.
