SIUE blanks USI 2-0

The University of Southern Indiana women’s soccer team fell for the second time in as many matches, losing a non-conference contest to Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, 2-0, at Strassweg Field Monday afternoon. USI falls to 0-2-0 overall in 2001, while SIUE goes to 3-0-0 after the weekend.
Freshman forwards Lindsey Eubanks and Lindsey Tiemeyer came off the bench to score both of SIUE’s goals. Eubanks scored at 31:57, while Tiemeyer scored late in the second half at 72:16.
Offensively, the Screaming Eagles were only able to muster 13 shots, five on goal, to the Cougars’ 18 shots, including 10 on goal.
USI will return to Strassweg Field to play Brescia University in a men’s and women’s doubleheader beginning at 5 p.m. Following the Brescia match, the women’s soccer team will go on its first road trip of the season, traveling to Minnesota State University-Mankato to play St. Cloud State University at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 8, and MSU-Mankato at 11 a.m. on Sunday, September 9.
