USI women’s soccer falls to Minnesota State-Mankato
@ Minnesota State University-Mankato 4, University of Southern Indiana 1
The University of Southern Indiana women’s soccer team surrendered four goals for only the fifth time in the history of the program and the first time in four seasons as it got handed a 4-1 loss at the hands of Minnesota State University-Mankato this afternoon in Mankato, Minnesota.
The Screaming Eagles managed just eight shots and only one that was on goal while junior goalkeeper Aude de La Salle (Gajoubert, France) faced 31 Maverick shots.
On a positive note for the Eagles and de La Salle, the junior goalie shattered the school record for saves in a game, recording 17 in the match. De La Salle shared the former record of eight with former USI standout Angie Gries.
USI’s only goal came at the 81:02-mark when sophomore Aisha Earle-Smith (Spring, Texas) used a feed from fellow classmate Robin Petty (Montgomery, Indiana) to put the ball into the net.
The Eagles, who fall to 1-4 on the season, will open their conference schedule at the University of Indianapolis Friday, September 14. Kickoff is scheduled for noon.
