Freyberger named Academic All-District V

Nichole Freyberger (Jasper, Indiana), a University of Southern Indiana sophomore women’s tennis player, was named Verizon Academic All-District V At-Large Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America. Freyberger was 10-4 at number three singles and 8-6 at number two doubles as a sophomore.

This was the first district award for Freyberger, who has been Academic All-Great Lakes Valley Conference the past two seasons. Freyberger helped lead the Screaming Eagles to a second place finish in the GLVC with a 13-3 overall record, 8-1 in the conference in 2001-02.

To be eligible for the Verizon Academic All-American and All-District awards, a student athlete must be a starter or important reserve, have a 3.2 cumulative grade point average, and must have completed at least one full academic year at his/her institution. The teams are determined by a vote of the region sports information directors.

USI is in District V, which includes Division II, Division III and NAIA universities from Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Ontario, and Manitoba.
