Blinzinger and Rees bow out of ITA Regional
University of Southern Indiana senior Emily Blinzinger (Oakland City, Indiana)and freshman Ashley Rees (Vincennes, Indiana) bowed out of the Omni Hotels Great Lakes Region Championships in Indianapolis on Saturday. The championships were hosted by the University of Indianapolis and administered by the Intercollegiate Tennis Associationl.
Blinzinger fell to third seeded Barbora Jilkova of Ferris State, 6-2, 6-2. Rees took Tara Tragesser of the University of Charleston three sets before falling 6-2, 3-6, 6-1.
The Screaming Eagles will now prepare for the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championships in Springfield, Illinois, beginning on Friday, October 11. USI will be the number two seed and will play the University of Missouri-St. Louis in the first round.
The conference tournament will run from October 11 through Saturday, October 12.
