Eagles complete competition at Aces Fall Classic
The University of Southern Indiana women’s tennis team wrapped up competition Saturday at the Aces Fall Classic in Evansville, Indiana. Freshman Casey Clausman (Vincennes, Indiana) was USI’s top finisher in singles action as she was awarded third-place in flight five singles due to a bye.
Saturday’s action saw three matches that pitted USI players against each other. Senior Kathleen Davis (Sullivan, Indiana) defeated fellow classmate Nichole Freyberger (Jasper, Indiana) to take home seventh place in flight three singles.
Sophomore Cassy Froderman (Brazil, Indiana) also defeated junior Kalie Ackerman (Allendale, Illinois) to win the seventh-place match in flight four singles.
In doubles action, Clausman and fellow freshman Rachel Engle (Walton, Indiana) teamed up to defeat Froderman and Ackerman for third place in flight three doubles. Freyberger and Davis finished fifth in flight two doubles after defeating the University of Evansville’s Elizabeth Hedde and Erica Bass, 8-2.
The Eagles will return to action next Saturday and Sunday, October 3-4, when they travel north to take on Lewis University and Saint Joseph’s College.
