USI women’s tennis falls in the first round of regional
NCAA Division II Great Lakes Region
First and Second Round Women's Tennis Tournament

BIG RAPIDS, Mich. – The University of Southern Indiana women’s tennis team was defeated in the first round of the NCAA Division II Great Lakes Regional, 5-1, by Grand Valley State University Thursday morning in Big Rapids, Michigan. USI finishes the year with a 14-6 overall record, while GVSU goes to 22-7.
The 2005 NCAA Division II Great Lakes Regional Tournament is being held at Ferris State University's Racquet and Fitness Center.
The Lakers swept the doubles round and won two of the three completed singles matches to defeat the Screaming Eagles. USI Freshman number three singles player Reilly Ackerman (Mt. Carmel, Indiana) posted the Eagles' only victory of the match, defeating GVSU’s Arcelia Gomez in straight sets, 6-3 and 6-1.
USI women’s tennis was making its second appearance in the NCAA II Great Lakes Regional.
