MIDLAND, Mich. – The University of Southern Indiana women’s tennis doubles team of junior Kimberly Decker (Brownsbug, Indiana) and sophomore Reilly Ackerman (Allendale, Illinois) advanced to the quarterfinals of the ITA Midwest Regional in Midland, Michigan. The regional is hosted by Northwood University.
Decker and Ackerman defeated Drury University’s Megan Blosser and Camila DuCourt, 8-6, to advance to the quarterfinals. The USI duo opened tournament play by defeating Wayne State University’s Steph Nicolson and Stephanie Van Tuyl, 8-6.
The USI doubles team of senior Ashley Ress (Vincennes, Indiana) and Audra Bartelt (Jasper, Indiana) lost in the second round, dropping a 9-7 decision to Silivia Oliverso and Amy Palmgren of Michigan Tech University. Ress and Bartelt won their opening match with a 9-7 victory over Allison Halbert and Jenna O’Dell of Ferris State University.
In singles action, Ackerman’s run in the tournament ended with a straight set loss to Lindsey Fischer from the University of Indianapolis.
