USI does well in doubles, struggles in singles at Aces Fall Classic
Final Results
EVANSVILLE, Ind. The University of Sotuhern Indiana women's tennis team posted all of its wins in doubles play and was shut out in singles action at the Aces Fall Classic that was hosted by the University of Evansville.
USI junior Maggie Coffman (Sellersburg, Indiana) and freshman Katie Clagg (Terre Haute, Indiana) won their opening match at Flight 2 Doubles, defeating a pairing of Izabell Rzezniczek from Austin Peay State University and Susan Elliott from Evansville, 8-4. Coffman and Clagg stumbled in their next match, losing to Becky Jenkins and Chelsey Casperson from Butler University, 8-2.
USI only other victory came in Flight 3 Doubles when freshmen Kyla Dorsett (Columbus, Indiana) and Gretchen Cantwell (Vincennes, Indiana) defeated Jenny Will and Annie Munch from Eastern Illinois University, 8-4. Dorsett and Cantwell lost in the semifinals to Evansville Allie Cox and Stephanie Mills, 8-0.
The Eagles will be back in action next weekend in the Eastern Illinois Tournament in Charleston, Illinois, September 30 and October 1.
