USI women's tennis signs two for 2007-08
EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana women's tennis team announced the signing of Michelle Girgenti (Greenwood, Indiana) and Jennie LaBonte (Indianapolis, Indiana) to NCAA national letters of intent for 2007-08. Girgenti and LaBonte are the first two players to sign with USI and Head Coach Keely Porter this year.
LaBonte was an All-State selection in 2005 and 2006 at Brownsburg High School (Brownsburg, Indiana), while earning honorable mention All-State honors in 2007. She also is a three-time All-District and All-Conference selection.
Girgenti comes to USI after helping Center Grove High School to sectional and regional championships in 2006 and 2007. She also was a member of the CGHS 2003 regional championship squad.
"Jennie and Michelle will be nice additions to our team," said Porter. "I expect both will be in the top six and help in singles and doubles. They also are good students and I look forward to helping them develop their tennis."
The Screaming Eagles were 10-9 overall in 2006-07, going 3-2 in the GLVC. USI tied for third in the GLVC Tournament.
