USI dominates doubles at APSU Invitational

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. The Univesity of Southern Indiana women's tennis team dominated in doubles play at the Austin Peay State Fall Invitational on September 29-30. The tournament conlcuded play for the Screaming Eagles in the fall.
USI won six of its nine matches in doubles play, led by junior Reilly Ackerman (Mt. Carmel, Illinois) and freshman Michelle Girgenti (Greenwood, Indiana). Ackerman and Girgenti won a pair of matches, defeating teams from APSU and Western Kentucky University.
The Eagles were not as fortunate in singles action, winning just three of the 10 pro-set matches. Sophomore Gretchen Cantwell (Vincennes, Indiana) picked up two of the three singles victories, defeating Leanne Caplinger of WKU and Beth Kistler of APSU.
