USI drops 8-1 match to Northwood

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. The University of Southern Indiana women's tennis team finished it spring road trip 0-3 after losing to Northwood University of Florida, 8-1, Wednesday in West Palm Beach, Florida. USI falls to 0-5 overall, while Northwood reaches .500 at 4-4.
The lone USI victory came at number three doubles when sophomore Gretchen Cantwell (Vincennes, Indiana) and freshman Jennie LaBonte (Indianapolis, Indiana) defeated NU's Tess Svensson and Didi Jurman, 8-5.
LaBonte almosts picked up a win for the Eagles at number five singles, but lost a tough match in a super-set tie-breaker. She lost the first set tie-breaker to Svensson before winning the second set and dropping the super-set tie-breaker, 10-6.
USI comes back to Indiana and resumes action on Sunday in a match at the University of Evansville. Match time is 9 a.m.
