USI women's tennis blanked by Division I Evansville

EVANSVILLE, Ind. -- The University of Southern Indiana women's tennis team was blanked by Division I University of Evansville, 7-0, Tuesday afternoon at the Aces' Carson Center Tennis Courts. USI finishes the 2008-09 regular season with a 4-14 overall record, while Evansville goes to 11-9.
The Screaming Eagles head to the post-season this weekend when they play in the GLVC Tournament April 24-25 at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center in St. Louis, Missouri. USI, the seventh seed, is scheduled to play Northern Kentucky University, the second seed, at 11 a.m. Friday at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center.
Entering the GLVC Tournament, USI sophomores Michelle Girgenti (Greenwood, Indiana) and Jennie LaBonte (Indianapolis, Indiana) and junior Gretchen Cantwell (Vincennes, Indiana) lead the team with six singles victories each. Cantwell and junior Katie Jo Clagg (Terre Haute, Indiana) have combined at number two doubles combined to lead USI with seven victories.
