USI women's tennis bows out of GLVC Tournament
#2 Northern Kentucky 5, Southern Indiana 1
ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- The University of Southern Indiana women's tennis team bowed out of the GLVC Tournament in the first round, losing to Northern Kentucky University, 5-1, Friday afternoon at Dwight Davis Tennis Center in St. Louis, Missouri.
The Screaming Eagles stayed close early by taking one of the doubles matches. Senior Reilly Ackerman (Mt. Carmel, Illinois) and sophomore Michelle Girgenti (Greenwood, Indiana) got the Eagles on the scoreboard by posting USI's only win of the match at number one doubles, 8-6. The Norse, who are ranked 34th nationally, closed out the match with three straight set win in the singles matches.
USI, which was the number seven seed finishes the season 4-15 overall, while NKU, the number two seed, goes to 18-6.
