Publishing
Publishing Services is a full‑service department responsible for coordinating the production of publications for USI. Magazines, newsletters, booklets, stationery, brochures, business cards, invitations, posters, boulevard signs, and banners are examples of items produced by Publishing Services for the University community.
Publications are created by an institution for a variety of purposes. Here at USI, the Publishing Services Department has the primary responsibility of maintaining a professional staff that works in partnership with all departments in creating publications of all types. Whatever the communication goal, the staff in Publishing Services applies its resources to:
- guide the process
- create the correct collateral
- deliver the finished product
Whatever the work entails, we work with quality, purpose, and economy in mind. We are your partner.
The printing/publishing industry is unique, requiring expertise in industry practices and technology, specification writing, purchasing capability, knowledge of private industry vendors, and last but not least - creativity. This combined knowledge enables Publishing Services to manage multiple priority projects simultaneously, and in the most cost-effective manner possible. Every project is original, so care must be taken to assure the best results. This can only be done correctly by professionals who understand the printing/publishing process.
THUS, THE POLICY
The University has invested in this department to be its gatekeeper of standards, logo management, visual identity, graphic quality standards, and production of deliverable materials. For this reason a first-right-of-refusal policy directs all University design/print/copy work to be the responsibility of Publishing Services. Departments do not acquire print collateral through any other means or sources. The University is our only customer, so again, we are your partner.
