Logo Guidelines
A logo is an identifying mark or brand. It serves as a symbol of ownership
and is a singular recognizable image.

MULTI-COLOR VERSION
The USI official logo is a three-color design composed of the red and blue colors of the University and black. The colors may not be reversed from the standard design. The official colors for USI are Pantone 540 (blue) and Pantone 7427 (red). No other shades of red and blue may be used. The University name color is officially black. If it is necessary to have only two colors (red/blue), the name color may change to USI blue only. No other color combination is permitted.
SHAPE
This logo must be used exactly as it is designed and scaled. Do not stretch or condense the image in any manner; the proportions must remain intact.
TWO-COLOR VERSION
When using the two-color version, the colors must always be Pantone 540 (blue) and Pantone 7427 (red). No other color combination is permitted.
ONE-COLOR VERSION
When using a one-color version, the logo may be any single color, including black, which complements the piece on which it is being used.
THE BUG
The official secondary logo is affectionately known as “the bug.” This logo is less formal and sometimes fits better in some applications. The bug may be used freely and alone, but must be accompanied by the wording “University of Southern Indiana in close proximity to the bug image if being used in a stand-alone print document.
The same guidelines noted above for the official full logo apply to the bug
SCREAMING EAGLES ATHLETIC DEPT. LOGO
Use of the complete logo
When using the complete logo commercially and by the Athletic Department, “University of Southern Indiana” must be under the “Screaming Eagles” script as it is a component of the official logo.
Use of the script logo
When using the script part of the logo by itself commercially, “University of Southern Indiana” must be under the script. USI athletic teams may substitute “University of Southern Indiana” with the name of their activity only (baseball, men’s or women’s basketball, etc.) for use on a uniform or practice apparel.
Use of the head logo
Use of the head portion of the logo commercially must be accompanied by direct linkage to the wording: USI Athletics (either by the script Screaming Eagles or the text USI Athletics) near the logo itself. USI athletic teams will be allowed to use the head logo by itself for game or practice apparel.
Logo colors
When the athletic logo is used in color, the PMS colors must be Red 032 and Blue 287. The logo may be used in black and white.
Permission
Unless prior permission is obtained from the Sports Information Director, the Screaming Eagles athletic logo is restricted.
It is important to note that the Athletic Department “head logo” is not an official USI eagle image. The use of this graphic is restricted to use as noted above.
ARCHIBALD EAGLE
Archibald Eagle and other athletic cartoon eagles have long been discontinued for use commercially. Archibald Eagle may be used by the University, the Athletic Department, the Varsity Club, and USI Alumni for special projects and occasions. Permission for the use of Archibald Eagle must be obtained from the Sports Information Director.
FLYING EAGLE
Use of the flying eagle has long been discontinued except for historical examples in the Athletic Department.
THE USI SEAL
The University seal is an image restricted for use except by the University president and on official University documents, such as the Commencement Program. For clarification on use of the seal, contact the director of News and Information Services, the director of Publishing Services, or the president’s office.
DEPARTMENTAL AND OTHER MISCELLANEOUS LOGOS
Logos may be designed for outreach programs engaged in promotions and retail operations. Independent logos for University departments and divisions are not permitted. Departments and other units should identify their areas using the standard University logo and their unit name in accompanying text. Use of previously designed logos for these areas will be discontinued when a more complete identity program is developed at a later date.
FINDING LOGOS
If you have created a document and wish to use an approved logo, visit Publishing Services and follow directions to download a high resolution version of that logo. Avoid borrowing a logo from a web site to use in a printed document. Doing so will result in an image that is grainy and may have some shift in color. It is important that the USI logo be represented with quality and consistency.
If you need a logo other than the standard USI logo or bug, which may be accomplished by a direct download from the web address noted above, you may request a high resolution version at the same web page. If the logo you need requires permission, as noted in items above, please have that permission in place and note that in your request.
