Web Services

Initiating a Web Project

STEP 1: Completing the Web Project questionnaire.
Web Development Questionnaire (Online Version)
Web Development Questionnaire (Printable Version)

The answers you provide will not only help determine which member of the Web Services team will be assigned to the project, but it will provide us with essential information regarding project goals, content and production requirements, design expectations, and programming needs.

STEP 2: Meeting with Web Services representative
After reviewing the information provided on the Web Project questionnaire, a Web Services team member will contact you to set up a meeting.  At this time you’ll be able to discuss the particulars of the project.  You will agree on a rudimentary home page and template layout, site architecture (outline), main navigation structure, and any dynamic/interactive needs you may have for the site.

Web Services usually requests 2-4 weeks to develop designs/mock-ups and organize content.  During this time you will be required to organize the content in your current web folder (if one already exists) or gather the new content that will be featured on the new site. At the end of the first meeting, a second meeting will be scheduled to sign off on the home page and template designs and site outline.

STEP 3: Follow up meeting
Web Services presents mock-ups to all the staff members who will be involved in developing and maintaining the site.  All necessary administrative approvals should be garnered at this time.  Web Services will require a list of staff that will require access to the web server.  All staff that will be working on the website will also need web editing software installed on their computers at this time. (see section on USI Web Server, above, for details)

STEP 4: Site creation, content migration and implementation
Web Services will work with your office to create as much of the new site as possible and to help staff that may not be familiar with Expression Web.  Web Services should also provide specific instructions regarding the specific elements of your site, how to access them, and how to make basic changes and updates to content (text, photos, etc).
