The format for the 2012 Ohio Valley STEM Educators Conference has changed this year to provide more in-depth content instruction for participants. Below, you can find information regarding the extended workshops available at this year's conference.
You must register in advance for the session you wish to attend!

Building a
SeaPerch ROV teaches basic skills in ship and submarine design
and encourages students to explore naval architecture and marine
and ocean engineering principles. It also teaches basic science
and engineering concepts and tool safety and technical
procedures. Students learn important engineering and design
skills and are exposed to all the exciting careers that are
possible in naval architecture and naval, ocean, and marine
engineering. Participants of this workshop will learn to lead
their students through the SeaPerch build process.

Introduction to Robotics Course 12FSTEM200D Grade Level: 4-12 Time: 9 a.m.-12 p.m. Location: BE0029/BE0031 Maximum Enrollment: 24 |
This
workshop will help coaches and teachers understand how NXT and
LEGO MINDSTORMS can be used in the classroom and for programs
like FIRST LEGO League. It will focus on the LEGO
MINDSTORMS NXT robot build, programming, and operation.
LEGO NXT-G software will be used for programming the robot and
participants will learn to autonomously control robot movement
based on time duration and wheel rotations. Touch sensors
and light sensors will be used to control the robot to avoid

The 2012 Ohio Valley STEM Educators Conference at the University of Southern Indiana brings together PreK -16 educators in the tri-state region to share new and innovative pedagogical strategies, discover hands-on, inquiry-based activities, and network with STEM educators. During this one-day conference, educators can explore ways to enhance STEM education in their classrooms.
