Cheer Team - Commitment

The Team cheers at all home basketball games and other USI sporting events when called upon. Cheering at all home basketball games is mandatory, as is attendance at a summer pre camp and a collegiate-level summer camp. In addition, cheerleaders travel to games in Louisville, Indianapolis, Chicago, St. Louis and Owensboro to support our men’s and women’s basketball teams.

The team practices twice a week during the evening and has one tumbling night a week at a local gym. All team members are required to participate in weight training and conditioning exercises at the USI Recreation and Fitness Center, as determined by the cheer team coach. Team members are required to enroll in and pass nine hours each semester and to maintain a 2.0 cumulative and semester GPA to be eligible to participate.

The Cheer Team holds a variety of fund-raising events throughout the season and performs at various community events, such as the West Side Nub Club Fall Festival.
