GO STEM!

The Girls Only (GO) STEM! Program focuses on helping girls entering their sophomore or junior year of high school overcome barriers and stereotypes faced while preparing for, and pursuing, STEM-related careers through a five-day summer camp experience,  June 5-10, 2011 at USI.  The 48 participants selected will live in university housing and work with female college students and faculty in the STEM disciplines, focusing on the application of the STEM disciplines at Holiday World 'n Splashin' Safari in Santa Claus, Indiana, by using the amusement park as a laboratory for experiments and activities in chemistry and nutrition, mathematics, biology, and engineering/applied physics. The GO STEM! summer camp, totally funded through a grant from Alcoa, will blend science learning, career education, and social networking.  Registration information will be available on the SwISTEM website after January 1, 2011:  http://www.usi.edu/stem/Index.ASP.
