Summer Enrichment and Kindergarten Camps

USI's Summer Enrichment Camp (SECamp) is a summer child care program for school-agers, 7-11 years old, located in space rented at Messiah Lutheran Church, 7700 Middle Mt. Vernon Rd., across the highway from campus. Kindergarten Camp (KCamp), for children entering kindergarten and first grade, is housed on campus at the Children’s Center. At this time, KCamp is full, but you may call or email to place your child on the wait list.

The 2008 SECamp for ages 7-11, operates from May 28 through August 1, opening at 6:45 a.m. and closing at 5:30 p.m., Monday-Friday. Children enrolled full-time for the entire summer are allowed one week’s vacation with no payment due.  Part-time campers are accepted, if space allows (MWF or TTh only). For more information or to be added to the mailing list for SECamp or to the wait list for KCamp, call USI Extended Services, 812/464-1989.

5th Annual Lincoln Institute for Teachers
June 19 – 20, 2008

Join Historic Southern Indiana as we conduct our 5th annual Lincoln Institute for Teachers.  The focus will be on the year 1858 as a turning point in American politics and we will explore such events as Kansas-Nebraska Act, the birth of the Republican Party in Illinois, and the Lincoln-Douglas debates.  Since 2008 is a Presidential election year, we will also focus on the nature of political discourse in our current electoral process and compare and contrast that with the early days of the modern two-party system in the Civil War era.

More detailed information and registration will be available in the spring.  If you would like to be added to the mailing list, please contact Jane Reynolds, Historic Southern Indiana office at areynold@usi.edu or by phone at 1/800/489-4474 or 812/465-7014.
