About This Diversity Initiative
Teaching Human Respect & Encouraging Action Diversity Series (THREADS)
is a campus-wide diversity initiative to encourage intentional diversity programming throughout the
University community through a coordinated diversity calendar. THREADS calendars reflect various topics in diversity like: ability,
class, ethnicity, gender, race, religion, sexual identity, and more.
They
will exclusively promote diversity programs, activities, and events sponsored
by campus departments and student organizations.
It is the purpose of THREADS to encourage the University community to
explore and celebrate the cultures of diverse populations on campus. In
addition, THREADS intends to promote understanding and mutual respect
of all members of our community. By promoting understanding and mutual
respect, THREADS helps build a more welcoming and more inclusive
University community.
The theme for the 2007-08 academic year is "Celebrating Diversity at the
University of Southern Indiana."
