Michael “Brody” Broshears
Before joining the University Division staff in November 2007, Brody created, and then directed, the newly formed Academic Advising Center at Northern Illinois University for three years. Brody has been involved in the advisement of undecided students for over 13 years. He is an active member of the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA) and the National Association for Developmental Education (NADE) and has presented at numerous regional and national conferences on topics including advising administration, advising systems, the needs of undecided students, and peer advising. He will be teaching a section of Freshman Seminar (GENS 101) and Career Planning (GENS 111) this fall.
Brody has spent his entire professional career helping students make the most of their college experience. Honesty, openness to diversity, and collaboration are important in all that he does. He views his primary role in this profession as that of an educator with an ethical responsibility to improve the lives of those around him.
