Michael "Brody" Broshears

Biography:

Before joining the University Division staff in November 2007, Brody created, and then directed, the newly formed Academic Advising Center at Northern Illinois University for three years. Brody has been involved full-time in the advisement of undecided students since 1998. He is an active member of the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA) and will begin a two year term as Region Five Chair for that organization in October 2011. Brody has presented at numerous regional and national conferences on topics including advising administration, advising systems, the needs of undecided students, and peer advising. Since 2009, Brody has also served as the Faculty Athletic Representative for USI. In this role, he represents USI and the faculty in the institution’s relationship with the NCAA and the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
Brody has spent his entire professional career helping students make the most of their college experience. Honesty, openness to diversity, and collaboration are important in all that he does. He views his primary role in this profession as that of an educator with an ethical responsibility to improve the lives of those around him.
