Can I have my pledge to United Way taken out of my USI paycheck?

Yes. Supporting United Way is easy through payroll deduction. Simply complete and sign the United Way Pledge Form and return it to Human Resources. If you choose to have deductions made each pay period, the deductions will begin in January 2018 and continue for 26 biweekly pay periods (for support staff) or 10 or 12 monthly pay periods (for faculty and administrators). If you wish to make a one-time deduction, it will be made in January 2018.

Are there any special prize drawings for employees who donate to the United Way? Is there a certain amount I must contribute in order to be eligible for the drawings?

Prizes are available for all donors, and there are special incentives for Fair Share and Keel Club donors. Prize winners will be notified via campus phone and/or email at the end of the campaign.

Can I change my United Way pledge during the year?

Yes. If you want to change your contribution given through payroll deduction, simply notify Human Resources, in writing, identifying the change and the desired effective date.

If I live outside Vanderburgh County, can I donate to United Way and have my donation sent to the county in which I live?

Yes. If you live outside of Vanderburgh, Warrick, or Spencer counties, and contribute at least $25, you can participate in the USI United Way campaign and have money sent to the United Way responsible for your county. Simply complete the Designated Gifts area on the pledge form and indicate the county to which you want your gift sent.

I want my donation to go to a specific service agency, but I do not see its name listed as a United Way agency. Can I give to this agency anyway?

No. United Way limits contributions to local agencies that have been designated by United Way. This ensures that all funds raised are going to support Education, Income, and Health programs.

How do I know what my “Fair Share” level of giving is?

For your convenience, the “Fair Share” per pay amount and annual amount are printed on your personalized pledge form. The amounts are calculated as a percent of annual pay using the following scale:
