Conversation Circles

Students in a conversation circle

The Conversation Circles initiative is a partnership among the Academic Skills Office, the Intensive English Program (IEP) at USI, and the Center for International Programs. A special focus is to support international students enrolled in the IEP program, but all international students at USI are invited to participate.

The conversation leaders are USI students themselves and assist international students to enhance their knowledge of the English language and develop conversational skills. Sessions are usually held two-three times weekly in the IEP office area.

The program is a good way for international students enrolled at USI to practice their English skills in small groups while also meeting other USI students.

For more information about specific days and times of the sessions, please contact Dr. Deanna Odney, Writing Specialist in Academic Skills ( or Dr. Emilija Zlatkovska, IEP Program Director (
