University Center

University Center East opened in 2011. The facility adds space to the central campus for student organizations, two eateries, student commons areas and the Fireside Lounge and Heritage Lounge, meeting and conference facilities and office space for the Dean of Students, Student Development Programs, the Multicultural Center, International Programs and Services, Center for Academic Creativity, and the Division of Outreach and Engagement.

Offices for the Student Government Association, the Activities Programming Board, Fraternity and Sorority Life, and The Shield, the student newspaper, are housed in UC East.

An architecturally distinctive 97-foot-tall conical tower connects the east and west wings of the University Center. On the ground level, the interior of the tower houses provides additional seating for dining. Traditions Lounge, on the second floor, offers a dramatic ceiling open to the top of the structure. The lounge honors USI alumni.
