Community Projects and Events

Below are the current volunteer opportunities available in Southwestern Indiana.

Albion Fellows Bacon Center needs volunteers to work with sexual assault and domestic violence victims.  Call Marva at 422-9372.

The American Cancer Society needs volunteer drivers to give rides for cancer patients to treatment, flexible time schedule.  Cal Polly at 424-8281 or 800-543-5245.

American Red Cross needs volunteer caseworkers for day or evening shifts.  You would take calls from your home and training provided.  Also needs volunteers to help with blood drives greeting donors.  Call Joyce at 471-7200.

American Red Cross Blood Services needs people to drive blood products to hospitals.  Call Bev at 468-4324.

American Red Cross, Warrick County needs 10 volunteers to work registration at blood drives; 1 or 2 volunteers to do bi-weekly maintenance check on vehicles, and 3 volunteers to work one morning each week in the office, answering phones, filing, data entry.  Call Wendy at 812-897-0390.

Angel Mounds State Historic Site needs volunteers for Native American Days, Sept. 23-25.  Must be 15 or older and can work many areas.  Shifts run Fri. from 8:30 a.m. – 9 p.m., Sat. from 10:30 a.m. – 9 p.m. and Sun. from 10:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.  For more shift and duty information , call Robert at 853-3956.

Asera Care Hospice needs direct and indirect care volunteers for Hospice at Evansville, Tell City and Petersburg.  Call Pat at 858-1032.

Bethel Manor needs volunteers to read, play games and talk with residents.  Also need help with outings, coffee cart, decorating, parties and general activities.  Call Shelley at 425-8182.

Big Brother/Big Sister needs one-on-one mentors for children, ages 5-18.  May meet child at one site or may take out into the community.  Call Linda at 425-6076.

Boys & Girls Club of Evansville needs a volunteer to teach simple cooking classes.  Call Tonya at 425-2311.

Cape Learning Center needs volunteers to tutor children and/or adults Mon.-Thurs. and Sat., flexible 30 min. sessions.   Call Sabrina at 425-4241 ext. 243.

Vanderburgh County CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate Program for abused and neglected children) needs volunteers to be the voice of a child in court.  One day training will be on Saturday’s, Aug. 13, 20th & 27th.  Call Suzanne at 424-5825.

Catholic Charities needs a volunteer to take an elderly woman to local doctors visits twice a month.  Call Terry at 423-5456.

The Children’s Advocacy Center needs volunteers to work bingo on Weds. & Sat. nights and for general office duties.  Call Mary (270) 830-8400.

Community Marriage Builders needs volunteers to make phone calls.  Call Ann at 477-2260.

Easter Seals needs clerical help or special events volunteers.  Call Kelly at 479-1411 x221.

ECHO Community Health Care Inc. needs volunteer interpreters for Hispanic patients and translators for clinic forms into Spanish.  Call Diane 436-0224 x 28.

Evansville Christian Life Center needs volunteers Tue. – Fri. (8:30 – 1:00) for Hot Meal Program and Clothing Dept., also medical personnel, a receptionist for the Pregnancy Resource Center and mentors for one-to-one parenting skills to new moms.  Call Cindy at 423-9222.

Evansville Coalition for the Homeless (ECHO) needs volunteers 4-5 hours a week for general cleaning and maintenance.  Call Susie at 428-3246.

Evansville Dog Owners Group needs volunteers with fundraising and grant writing experience to help raise money to build a dog park in Evansville.  Call Vanessa at 437-9445.

Evansville State Hospital needs male volunteers to serve as a sponsor in their Friend-to-Friend Program.  Monthly contact is required in the form of visits, cards and letters.  Call Theresa at 469-6800 ext. 4970.

Evansville Vanderburgh Public Library/Homebound Service needs delivery people and office workers for new Central Library location.  Call Mary at 428-8227.

Forest Hill Baptist Church needs a licensed beautician to donate a couple hours for underprivileged children.  Call Faith at 897-0648 or Karen at 985-5492.

Habitat for Humanity, Warrick County Home Store needs volunteers to fix appliances, pick-up delivery drivers and helpers.  Also need committee and board members.  Call Trena at 897-3404.

Harvest Time Inner City Ministries needs meal delivery drivers for sick and shut-ins Mon., Wed., & Fri. around 12 noon.  Call Pearlie at 479-1975 or 424-9524.

HAVEN (Horse Advocates Voicing Equine Needs) needs volunteers with a bush hog to mow pasture areas and help with general ground clean up. Call Monica at 423-7693.

Henager’s Memories & Nostalgia Museum needs volunteers to help display and preserve exhibits.  Call James at 812-795-2230.

Hope of Evansville needs volunteers for data entry, filing and helping counselor with clients in the classroom.  Call Tracy or Karen at 423-3169.

Impact Ministries needs tutors M -Th. from 3-5:00 p.m. in reading or math.  Help 45 minutes/twice a week.  Call Susan at 422-7607.

Indiana Blood Center needs donors to replenish blood banks in the Vanderburgh County area.  Call Elise at 469-7900.

Little Lambs needs volunteers to work at Little Lambs store and research grant opportunities.  Call Lora at 423-1107.

Living Water Hospice Care needs volunteers to work with terminally ill patients, make personal visits, or help staff with paperwork, errands, etc. in Vanderburgh, Gibson & other locales.  Call Erin or Steven at 812-468-0000.

Meals on Wheels needs volunteers to assist in the delivery of noon meals to homebound residents, Mon. – Fri., 10:30-12:30 or 11:00-1:00 depending on the route.  Call Debbie at 476-6521 or 450-3560.

Muscular Dystrophy Association needs volunteer counselors for summer camp running July 10 – July 16.  Call Carol at 479-6550.

New Beginnings Sexual Assault Support Services needs volunteers to be trained in rape & sexual assault crisis intervention.  Choose your shift and be on call evenings and weekends to counsel victims. Call Erin B. at 1-800-226-7273.

Patchwork Central needs volunteers to pick up food each week from Tri-State Food Bank on Wednesday at 11:20 a.m. or Thursday at 8:00 a.m.  Also, volunteers to work in office 1 or 2 days a week from 1:30 – 5:00 p.m. answering phones & greeting. Call Mike at 424-2735.

The Salvation Army needs volunteers on July 27 & 28th to separate and bag school supplies and Aug. 2 to 4th to take applications and distribute bags to children.   Call Gwen or Andrea at 812-422-4673.

Sunshine Sanctuary in Princeton needs volunteers to help clean & brush dogs and cats.  Call Dolores at 385-8375.

Tri-Cap/Breast & Cervical Cancer Program needs 2-3 volunteers to assist with general office tasks, and help with health fairs and outreach activities.  Call Candeeda at 428-2637.

United Caring Shelter needs volunteers to help serve evening meals.  Call Arin at 422-0297.

United Methodist Youth Home needs female volunteers to serve as mentors to teen residents.  5-8 hours/month listening, enjoying hobbies, etc.  Call Deshay at 479-7535.

Vanderburgh County Council on Aging needs volunteers, age 55+, to place in non-profit agencies as volunteers, will do general office duties, mailings, special events and work in area of homeland security.  Call Nancy at 464-7787.

Vanderburgh Humane Society needs volunteers to answer phones and greet public.  Call 426-2563 ext. 217 for more information.

Visiting Nurse Association needs volunteers for Hospice program offices in Evansville, Tell City, Princeton, IN and Eldorado, IL.  Call 800-326-4862 to find out more.

Vista Care Hospice needs volunteers for patient companions and special projects in Posey, Vanderburgh, Warrick, Spencer, Perry, Gibson, Pike, Dubois, Knox & Daviess Counties.  Call 476-8990.

Wesselman’s Nature Reserve needs volunteers of all ages to sort and move recyclables from collection center to semi trailers. Call 479-0071 for more information.

YWCA of Evansville needs a volunteer to work Thurs. 8:30 – 9:30 a.m. in the food pantry, must be able to lift 50 lbs. Also need volunteers to help with the girls after school program.  Call Karen at 422-1191.
